FBC #8 – Leadership [1 page]
An Executive Concern: Business Owners and Executives
Leaders are, by definition, out in front of a group of competitors, or a group of people working to fulfill the same intention or produce the same outcome.
When businesspeople, or businesses, make a leadership offer they say,
I will help you produce outcomes in the future that fulfill your intentions such as increasing your income,
… on the condition that …
You accept my interpretations and fulfill my requests to coordinate action.
For “linguistic beings” who understand leadership begins with languaging concerns, situations, capabilities and strategies,
… those who are “out in front” and dignified,
… or who think and act with integrity and value,
… and who are able to produce superior outcomes that are (1) fresh, (2) new, (3) highly valued and (4) scarce relative to demand recurrently in challenging competitive situations,
… their accomplishments qualify them to speak with authority and make valuable leadership offers of help.
Leadership is the capability to think, speak and act as someone, or a business, that leads others
… by helping them cope with challenging competitive situations
… so that they can make and keep their commitments, make more money and fulfill their financial intentions.
The purpose of leading in IR#4 with computers and the internet is to amplify businesspeople’s strategic and competitive knowledge by increasing their competitive capabilities and advantages, productivity and incomes.
The capability to lead in business is rooted in businesspeople’s, or a business’, ability to make an offer to help people produce a situation in the future better than they could do by themselves and have it accepted.
When customers, employees, colleagues, employers and vendors accept the offer and begin to accept what the leader has to say, they become a follower in that domain, for a period of time while working on a project, as an employee, as an investor or student, etc.
Leadership is “financial” because it enables businesspeople and businesses to amplify their strategic and competitive knowledge to make money, earn a living or become rich.
It is “strategic” because it increases everyone’s capabilities to execute, improve and design new strategies.
It is “competitive” because it is used to increase competitive capabilities and advantages.
