Concerns of “Linguistic Beings”
Body, Family, Work, Play and Sociability
Work is the word we assign to any actions we perform to fulfill our intentions.
When we are young, adult work looks unpleasant. Having to work does not look like “fun”.
When we mature it becomes deeply meaningful, rewarding financial and fun.
For adults, “work” can become and is often a form of “play”, rather than a cause of suffering. It is “fun” without being entertaining or distracting adults from their most important obligations.
Whereas children seek endless entertainment to have fun or enjoy themselves — as do adults who remain “arrested adolescents” because they did not grow themselves up, or thought adulthood and dignity were an entitlement,
… dignified adults enjoy working to take care of their spouse and children,
… and only distract themselves with entertainment when it’s appropriate and when they can afford it.
Once businesspeople begin to use “Aji”, for example, designing fresh, new OPNS becomes adult play.
In the deepest sense of the word, human beings Work to survive, adapt to life’s always changing circumstances and live a good life. It’s that simple, or it becomes that simple when people don’t have enough money to afford the goods and services everyone needs to help them to:
Take care of their human, financial, marital, career and business concerns
Cope with situations by avoiding threats, fulfilling obligations and exploiting opportunities
Increase capabilities to take think and act effectively, strategically and competitively
Design and execute strategies, or action plans, to fulfill their intentions
Because we are “linguistic beings”, which means we live inside our language, we speak so that we can Work to fulfill 4 fundamental purposes:
1. Learn new IR#4 Strategic and Competitive Knowledge
2. Communicate ambitions, moods, language, intentions, distinctions, interpretations, commitments, practices, outcomes, OPNS, etc.
3. Coordinate thought and action to design and execute action plans
4. Produce our own steady streams of fresh, new OPNS and competitive Networks of Capabilities
Work is “existential” because our ability to fulfill our intentions to live a good life individually and socially with others creates consequences that affect everyone else’s ability to fulfill theirs. The integrity and value we bring to our families and communities creates identities of dignity and respect.
When we don’t make enough money to take care of our spouse and children, or satisfactory care of them, they suffer practical consequences that spread throughout society.
This is another reason why businesspeople who are casual about earning and saving enough money to take care of themselves and their spouse, and to avoid being a “parent tax” on their children, in-laws and grandchildren, lose their dignity.
The “help” or financial capabilities produced by work make being successful deeply meaningful and worthwhile to adults who are serious about taking care of their spouse and children. This negates falling into “existential despair” later in life.
Work is “strategic” when using “Aji” because it enables businesspeople to (1) execute action plans, (2) improve action plans or (3) produce new action plans such as those made possible when executing The Aji Source Fundamental Strategy.
Work is not strategic when it is task-oriented or when intentions are focused on “getting the job done” and then moving on to the next job, or task, instead of executing an action plan.
And, it can’t be satisfying when businesspeople fail to earn and save enough money every day no matter how hard they are trying to succeed.
Work is “competitive” when using “Aji” because the “help” businesspeople provide when executing The Strategy is superior, or more important, useful and worthwhile, than the helpful work produced by competitors.
